NHL 2nd Half Questions

From the desk of Patrick Hoffman…

Here we are folks. It’s almost March and playoff races are forming, trade deadline rumors are spreading and every game is becoming more and more important. Ah, how I love hockey during this time of the year.

With that being said, there are a lot of questions that have yet to be answered that I am sure many hockey fans are wondering about. With the season approaching the spring, it’s time to ask those questions again in hopes that someone can enlighten us.

Here you go:

- Why does the NHL continue to market Sidney Crosby when it’s clear that Alex Ovechkin is the real superstar?

- Which team will be brave and pickup Sean Avery? My bet is on the Rangers but I’ve been wrong before.

- What will Martin Brodeur be like when he returns to action within the next month? Will this be the first time that the New Jersey Devils have a well-rested Brodeur heading into the Stanley Cup Playoffs?

- When will Peter Forsberg announce that he can officially no longer play the sport and retire from the game? Something tells me that this should have happened a year or so ago.

- Are the Boston Bruins really this good?

- Will the New York Islanders move to Kansas City? My gut tells me no but stranger things have happened with Charles Wang at the helm.

- Anybody else rooting for the Washington Capitals to succeed in the playoffs this year? I certainly am!

- If you were New York Rangers General Manager Glen Sather, would you still sign guys like Scott Gomez, Chris Drury and Wade Redden? My answer would be a resounding no.

- Carey Price may allow a lot of soft goals but believe me when I tell you that he has a bright future in this league.

- Do the Detroit Red Wings have what it takes to repeat as Stanley Cup champions? I think they do but they will have some tough competition this year.

That’s all I have for now but I’m sure as the season continues, they will slowly but surely start to be answered.
